GIRLGUIDING TAMWORTH SHARE THEIR VISION WITH HALF A MILLION

At 8.10pm on 20 October 2010 (20:10, 20/10, 2010), Tamworth Division joined thousands of girls and women across the country as they launched the next 100 years of guiding and made their pledges for the future.

Our Vision party was one of hundreds that took place at the same time throughout the UK. The event invited Girlguiding UK members to reflect on the Centenary year and its celebrations, and share their vision for the future.

We were joined by special Guests Soroptimist International of Tamworth, ex-Guides and Guiders, relatives of girls receiving Baden Powell awards and Adults receiving Long Service Awards. It was an evening of circus skills, singing, belly dancing, lantern making and international food tasting which ended in a fabulous display of Poi outside, followed by everyone renewing their Guiding Promise, alongside thousand of girls and young women across the country.

Special guest Julia Goodall, President of Soroptomists International of Tamworth said:

"Congratulations to Girlguiding Tamworth for now and for the future. Your "Vision" is inspiring - you must all be very proud of your organisation, what you have achieved over the years, and the chance to push boundaries and live a dream in your Centenary Celebrations."

Soroptimists and Girlguiding share similar aims and objectives - a Global voice for women and a commitment to a world where women and girls can achieve their potential, and realise aspirations.
