Girlguiding in Tamworth gives all girls and young women lots of opportunities to learn and experience new and exciting activities in a safe and unique girl only space. We give girls a voice and change as the lives of girls change. We are very lucky to have a large, friendly team of enthusiastic volunteers who help to make this happen. From the youngest Rainbows to our most senior members we all enjoy the fun and friendship of working together to achieve great things!
The Division
Our division is divided into three districts: St Editha’s, Vincent and Watling. Each of our districts has thriving Rainbow, Brownie and Guide Units run by our dedicated volunteers. We also have a flourishing Ranger Unit and enthusiastic Trefoil Guild where those aged 18+ can meet like-minded people and be part of the adventure.
We have an interesting new programme which encourages our members to explore the world. It has six different themes to enable us to offer a variety of experiences so there is something for every girl. There are lots of opportunities to earn badges and work toward theme awards. Girls are encouraged to develop their own personal preferences by completing interest badges of their own choice outside of the meeting place. Each of these badges has three challenges with individuals choosing how they tackle these before they share their achievements with their leaders.
Our Badges
Those who complete all their Theme Badges can move on to a final challenge before they transfer to the next section. Girls who complete this will no doubt be very proud to achieve their “Gold Award”.
Local badges specific to our own division have also proved popular with girls and adults alike. These are often awarded to those that participate in trips, sleepovers/residentials etc. or are just interested in gaining informal challenge badges. They are frequently sewn on ‘camp blankets’ which are not only admired by many but also remind members about the fun had and friendships made.
Some of our units are full and do have waiting lists but there are places in the Tamworth area if you are flexible and willing and able to travel. Please register your interest online and one of our leaders will get back to you with the options available.
Why Girlguiding?
With guiding girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. They might go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and even lead their own camps – or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends!
Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up – everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be, and to make a difference to the world around them.
If you are looking for a way for your daughter to make new friends, have fun and grow her confidence – this is it! With guiding, she’ll laugh, learn and have adventures. Our fantastic volunteers will be there to support her right from the start, and because our activities are designed to be for all girls, there’s a place for your daughter whatever her tastes or needs
