Brownies

If you are aged between seven and ten then Brownies is for you.  We have several units in the area run by our amazing volunteers.

You can make loads of new friends and have endless opportunities to take part in exciting events with your own unit, with all the other Brownie units or even with all the Rainbows and Guides too!

There are lot of things that happen above and beyond our programme both within the unit meeting place and offsite as we go on trips, hold sleepovers and have fun on longer residential breaks.

We have a huge range of activities for them to try so there really is something for every girl.  Within our exciting new programme there are plenty of opportunities to earn badges which are based on the six themes that are consistent across each of our different sections:

We listen to our girls and get them involved in choosing what goes on at our weekly unit meetings.  Our Skills Builders are a fun way for the girls to develop their skills and are sometimes worked on in small groups within their chosen unit. Unit Meeting Activities are also a big hit with our Brownies with new ones being introduced regularly. Many of our girls enjoy looking through the cards, choosing the things they fancy and getting involved or even taking the lead.

Brownies also get to choose the Interest Badges they want to work on and how they want to show their leaders that they have achieved the three challenges that are set for each badge. They can work on these at home so it’s a great opportunity for parents, friends and other family members to get involved and be part of the adventure.

All our members are invited to make their promise and Brownies are encouraged to think about what it means to them before they do so. They are awarded a special badge to help them remember this special occasion.

Their promise is:

“I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the King and my community, to help other people and to keep the Brownie Guide Law.”

The Brownie Guide Law is:

“A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.”  I am sure you will not be surprised to discover that brownies love doing good turns whether it be at home, school or in the local community.
