Division Volunteers led by Janine Lomas helped create part of the giant Mercian Flag to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the ascension of Athelstan, King of Mercia. They included a selection of badges from interest to challenges & old to new that were stitched with love, taking hours of work. The enormous flag, sized at 9m x 6m, was unfurled by Tamworth Castle and subsequently displayed in St Editha’s Church . Debbie the main organiser said “I can’t put into words how grateful I am to Tamworth Castle for allowing me to oversee its creation. I have been privileged to work with the incredible team at Motionhouse who took great care to make sure it was seen at its best. Most of all though, thanks to the community volunteers who put so much into each and every inch of its fabric.”
